Hi, my name's Nicky and I'm proudly a BizMum. After 15 years in the IT industry working in medium & large organisations, I finally realised that life with 2 children and a husband is busy enough without working myself to death full-time and not enjoying what I do. So when a redundancy opportunity arose I took it and started looking into "doing my own thing" in my chosen field (IT/web design). But it wasn't easy (particularly not part-time!) and while there are some resources online, they're scattered all over the place and often a bit confusing. It should be easier!
So I decided to create BizMums, with help from my husband, family and friends. This site is aimed at YOU - the Work At Home Mum (WAHM), the Mum with a home business, the mumpreneur. We’re getting lots of assistance from other business professionals too, such as public relations consultants, business managers, e-commerce business owners, lawyers and graphic designers. Right now it’s entirely a labour-of-love, completely free to join and participate in, but if you click on the ads then we’ll hopefully make a few cents that can go towards covering things like web-hosting costs.
A. Well, lots of reasons, but the main ones are: • It’s FREE (and there aren't a lot of those around)!
• It will let other BizMums find you, so we can all help each other.
• It will improve your ranking on sites such as Google & Yahoo Search.
• You’ll gain worldwide exposure.
OK, so clearly I didn't manage to get the site fully operational during 2007 - what can I say, life is busy busy! During 2007 I was busy running 2 work-at-home businesses (website development and personalised cards & invitations) and in January this year I started Kidz Brandz Pty Ltd (children's clothes) with a friend (check out www.KidzBrandz.com.au and let me know what you think!!). So, combining that with this website AND my husband and 2 children, unfortunately BizMums has fallen down the ladder a bit. But I have notes all over the house AND my recent experience with setting up Kidz Brandz from scratch, all of which I'm hoping to add to the site in the coming months.
